As a Cincinnati, Ohio Cake Smash Photographer, one of my favorite parts of my job is celebrating milestones with families, especially first birthdays!

This weekend I had the great honor of capturing Hadley’s first birthday, Cake Smash Session. And my how cute she is!

 

Hadley was a little apprehensive to smash her cake at first, as this is not something of the norm. She began by delicately sticking one finger at a time in the back of the cake…. It was quite cute.

But soon she settled right in. She took a few nibbles, then decided to pick up a big chunk of the cake!

I was so excited tobe hired to be Remi’s Cincinnati Cake Smash Photographer. I met Remi through her Grammie who hired me to shoot her portraits as a first birthday gift.

Nothing is more fun than a First Birthday Cake Smash, especially one with chandeliers, gold polka dots, tutu’s, and tulle pom poms, with the most adorable little girl! Remi’s pink, mint, and gold cake smash session was so much fun!

Remi’s Grammie contacted me a few weeks about setting this session up and it came together perfectly. Remi was a absolute blast to photograph and made some of the cutest faces imaginable while smashing her cake and splashing in the tub.

The part of a first birthday session that everyone looks forward to is smashing the cake. We treated this little girl to the most amazing first birthday cake smash with a pink, mint, and gold set, and a beautiful, delicious cake from 3 Sweet Girls Cakery in Cincinnati! They executed my vision perfectly, it was almost too pretty to smash <3

But Remi made sure to get the cake smashing started quickly and pushed her cake right off the stand. So cute!

The best part of a cake smash comes at the end, when we clean the birthday girl up in my claw foot tub, with a nice warm bubble bath <3

The Reilly Family

Being a Cincinnati Family Photographer in the fall is amazing! Fall family sessions are always my favorite. If it’s even possible, I even love them more at sunset. This sweet little family was so amazing to work with.

The day of their scheduled session it had been raining all day and when the rain cleared the clouds didn’t but Kevin and Rachel happily agreed to meet the following evening. Mother nature didn’t disappoint and we were blessed with an amazing evening: clear sunny skies, and an incredible sunset! Sweet Liam stole the show with his sweet expressions.

I just adore this session and this family. Rachel and Kevin, thank you for trusting me with your family portraits. I loved meeting you guys and hope we get to work together again soon!

Happy First Birthday, Ellie!

It’s hard to believe we are already celebrating Ellie’s first birthday with a cake smash session. I feel like it was just a few months ago when I was shooting her newborn portraits! Watching these babies grow from newborns to toddlers is what makes being a Cincinnati Cake Smash photographer one of the best jobs ever!

First Birthday sessions are some of my favorite. There’s not much better than a smiling baby who has just learned to walk toddling through the park at sunrise. Pair that with two smitten parents and I am swooning. When I arrived for Elias’s session at the Voice of America Park, I noticed they were setting up for the 2016 Walk to End Alzheimer’s and got really nervous about all the people and having to Photoshop out tons of people from the background of my images. But each and every person was so kind not to photobomb my pictures and several even offered up their dogs to help get some smiles from Elias.  Overall, perfect, perfect morning!  Thank you so much Amy & Alex for trusting me to capture Elias’s First Birthday. Bryant is just the sweetest little one year old around. His first birthday theme was the hungry caterpillar so naturally, we had to have a giant bushel of balloons to match.  Of course when the wind was picking up, I was sure we were going to have scene out of the movie UP. I’m kidding. Kind of. Seriously though, the balloons were strong hahaha. Happy First birthday Bryant, you are the cutest little caterpillar around. It sounds so cliche but, I really can’t believe my baby just turned one! Samuel’s Cake Smash is something I have been thinking about since I was pregnant with him. Since I plan so many cake smash sessions for other Cincinnati Mom’s coming up with something original was a struggle. My husband and I went back and forth on so many different ideas and decided that one of the advantages of owning your own studio is that I could do as many different sessions as I wanted for his birthday and not have to settle on just one theme. So, when I found this amazing Max costume from Pottery Barn Kids, I was completely sold on a Where the Wild Things Are cake smash session. Since I had recently done a Where the Wild Things Are cake smash session for another family, I already owned the backdrop, wood slice cake stand, and paper for the floor. So, the only thing left was the poofs that my 4 year old and I made together using a Pinterest tutorial and ordering the cake from a custom baker here in Cincinnati. I’m in love with the results and even more impressed my son tolerated wearing the costume throughout the entire session! I hope you love this as much as I do. I was over the moon excited when Gracie’s Mom contacted me about her idea for a purple and teal cake smash for Gracie. Visions of a completly over the top girly set up were swirling in my head. Gracie’s Mom and I exchanged several ideas back and forth and finally settled on this set up and it came out perfectly! 3 Sweet Girls Cakery nailed the vision for the cake, as usual and Modern Rag Quilts sent me the most amazing rag tie banner to tie everything together.
