There’s nothing like the combination of Christmas and children.  It’s nothing short of magical seeing the world through their eyes at that time of the year. Do you remember when you first met Santa?

Magical Sets

When I dream up what these sessions will be like I always try to make sure everything is perfect, so the experience is incredible for the kids. I approach the scene with a different look every year to make it fun and fresh. I consider every single prop and placement of the decorations.

For the kids, this is more than a photo session!  They get cookies and a gift from the jolly old elf himself! I know that for many of them, this is going to be their first memory of meeting Santa and that’s really special to me.

Cozy in their jammies or dressed in their Christmas best, they get to sit with Santa and talk about their year, what Christmas means to them, and of course, what they hope will be left under the tree.

This is so much fun for the kids and so peaceful and wonderous. Not at all like standing in a line in the mall and being put in a stranger’s lap!

Christmas Storybooks

This was the first year that I made the Christmas Storybooks, and they were a huge hit!  I’ll definitely be doing those again because everyone thought they made the perfect Christmas present.

This year, I wanted a nighttime scene to give a sense of quiet wonder for the sessions. Soft lamplight, muted tones, and a sense of Silent Night are what I was thinking.

After the sessions, I wanted that “twinkly Christmas feeling,” so special editing on the Christmas tree, bags and lamps were applied. I think you can feel the magic in these photos!

These sessions were such a joy to photograph, and I love the cuddles and the laughter. It is so gratifying to see my clients share their storybook with their loved ones. Don’t miss this event next year!

Hyde Park Baby Photography and Fall Fun with Emmerson.

Photo sessions like this should be mandatory for 18-month kids! All they do is play, and I follow them around capturing time between baby and toddler with my camera. It is magical.

At this age, it’s all you can do to keep up with them!

Emmerson was living his best life! Blonde curls bouncing, blue eyes snapping, we took a wander around and let him explore.  

 I think that these types of sessions are important because, at an early age, children learn that getting their professional photos done can be FUN!

 It’s not all about stiff poses, uncomfortable clothes, and “saying cheese.” I like to let kids be kids!

No matter if we are in the studio or outside, I want to capture your children as they truly are.

Truth be told, this is one of my favorite ages because you can literally see them processing the world and everything around them.

What could be better than playing in the sunshine on a fall day, wiggling your fingers and toes in a puddle, and discovering all the things that nature gives us?

Don’t you love that look of pure joy as he reaches, muddy and happy, towards the sky?

Spending time with Emmerson was a reminder that there’s a big, bright world out there for us to be thankful for.

His orange sweatshirt was perfect and looked amazing in the autumn light that is upon us now. A cozy blanket, some fall mums, and that’s all you need to have an adorable fall-themed session.

And of course, he loved the wheelbarrow because anything with wheels is fascinating to children. We forget so quickly how interesting the world is, but children are a daily reminder of that.

So, are you humming it yet? “Baby Shark, doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo”! Because, in this case, we need to change the name to “Frankie Shark” for this one-year-old cake smash session! 

This little man Frankie and his parents moved to Cincinnati not long after his first birthday. I was so happy to get to know them and use this under the sea theme!

The backdrop is decorated with fun and whimsical accents, so I knew that I wanted bold colors to make it pop and make it fun and memorable.  To complete the baby shark theme, I got the cutouts of the sharks in multiple colors on Etsy. 

For the cake, you cannot go wrong with Tres Belle Cakes! This little woman-owned shop and their custom cakes for cake smashes are the absolute best. I love that they make the cakes easy to grab for little hands and will work with any kinds of allergies.

They really outdid themselves with this one. The sea creatures were just adorable and fit perfectly with the theme and Frankie’s little outfit. Isn’t that bow tie the best?! 

With kids Frankie’s age, I always try to get a few portraits of just them before we get into the goodies, because sometimes it takes a bit to warm them up.

But not Frankie!  He was all smiles from the moment the session started so we were able to get some portraits of him showcasing his new teeth and his sparkling blue eyes.

Once we got into the yummy cake part of the session mom, dad, and I were cracking up at his joy and all of his expressions. This guy has personality and he totally enjoyed every bite of his cake. Frankie was not afraid to dig right in with both hands!

After the sugar rush started to subside, we moved into scrub-a-dub-dub, Frankie in the tub and captured some of the cutest photos. I love capturing those expressions, and those crazy bathtub cowlicks, and those wet baby lashes.

Cake Smash Photography in Cincinnati is a total joy. However of all of the sessions I have done over the years, baby Zoe is the happiest and most joyful baby I have ever photographed for a cake smash! We designed a warm and whimsical set with shades of blush and floral cake for her session.  She smiled and laughed the entire time! Take a peek below and you will see she loved the cake! Emmitt Robert Beckman made his appearance on Thursday September 20th at 7:51am.

He weighed in at 8 pounds, 8 ounces and was 20.5 inches long!

This little man had to bring his big brother Raphael in for the session. I think it is easy to see that Raphael is smitten with his little brother.

I don’t know if it was the emotional support that Raphael provided to baby Emmitt, but he is one of the most chill babies I have ever worked with!

He slept nearly the entire session! Look at that smile!

Emmitt’s mom used the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle outfit to tell Emmitt’s dad that she was expecting. So we had to incorporate that into the session.

Flu Season and Baby Portraits

With the flu season in full swing it is important to note that I am fully vaccinated and up to date on both the Flu and Whooping cough vaccines!

I also sanitize and wash all of my props and studio between each session.

Your baby’s safety is my number one priority.

Eliza first came to me as an itty bitty newborn! 

Luckily for me, I was fortunate enough to have her in my studio again for her 10-month-old Milestone Photography Session.

She got to show me all off her new moves – standing, sitting, downward dog, and all that beautiful strawberry blond hair.

Eliza’s Mom made the sweet purple dress that went perfectly with our lavender backdrop.

We also had her Halloween costume for us to play around in. She is such a beautiful little butterfly!

Doing Cake Smash Photography for Hyde Park, Indian Hill, and all of Cincinnati’s metro area families is a job that I can’t believe I am so lucky to do.

This little guy’s Star Themed Cake Smash Session was a blast! It is also a reminder of how lucky I am to serve this area.

This little guy dug right into his yellow, white, and blue Tres Bella cake and was no stranger to making a mess.

First, we grabbed a couple of images before we brought his cake in. As you will see he totally hammed it up!

After we brought his cake in he tried to blow out his yellow fondant one-shaped candle. (Don’t worry though, it wasn’t lit!) Next, he tore in!

It was awesome to see the fun he was having. Once he finished his cake we moved our little frosting-covered boy to the bath tub where he had a ball playing with the bubbles and rubber duck.

Between his joy of devouring his cake and the dreamy gold and blue stars in the dangling in the background this Cake Smash Session was wonderful.

I recently has a casting call for a Cincinnati Cake Smash Photography Model Session and Georgia was our winner. This little mermaid didn’t love the cake or being messy but we made it happen. I mean who doesn’t love icing?! Baths are always a hit, so eventually we won her over with that! Thank you Susan for letting me borrow your daughter!

Cincinnati, Ohio Santa Sessions | Cincinnati Family Photographer

I love being a Cincinnati Family Photographer. Once of the big reasons is because every year, I get to host tons of Cincinnati families in my Norwood studio for my annual Santa Sessions!  This year  my best year yet! So many cute kids dressed in their coordinating pajamas.

This year I went with a classic Christmas theme for the sets.  I used lots of dark reds and buffalo check patterns to coordinate with Santa’s dark red suit. Target’s Christmas line this year was on point for all my props!

Kids came dressed in their cutest Christmas dresses and holiday vests. Then changed into their Christmas jammies and had milk and custom cookies by Sugar & Icing Custom Cookie.

I met this sweet family while I was photographing another Cincinnati Family at Ault park a few months ago. At the time, this sweet couple was expecting and asked for my card. Fast forward a few months, and they contacted me, Cincinnati Family Photographer, to capture their now 3 month old baby. And he was the sweetest, most cuddle little guy ever!
