Happy 1st Birthday Emmie!

Creating sets is one of my favorite things to do as a cake smash photographer. This set is was no exception. I had such a great time creating this set for Emmie’s sweet one cake smash! I love how everything came together. Mom’s choice in outfit styling worked perfectly with the beautiful ribbon backdrop and amazing cake by Tres Belle!

The birthday girl was a little reserved diving into the cake but, eventually, she went straight for the icing! The best part, right?!

After indulging in all the icing we put her in a nice warm bath and the smiles continued!

Happy Birthday Isla!

This was my first time meeting Gazen and Dick.

Isla’s first birthday theme was a peony, gold, and greenery theme so we ran with it and created an indoor spring set.

Isla was also a total champ during her cake smash photography session!

At first she went straight for the cake topper and delicately licked the icing off the stem. Then she realized she had an entire cake covered in frosting to go for!

You would never know this was her first time eating cake.

Mom and Dad were really eager to try out a cake from Tres Belle but she smashed the cake so much that there was nothing left to taste.

She might be my best smasher to date. Isla loved the bubbles in the smash session and kept trying to catch them.

We even had a chance to take a bit of video, so here’s a peak behind the scenes of Isla’s Cake Smash Session!

Happy First Birthday, Titus!

I am getting to the point in my career as a Cincinnati Cake Smash photographer that I am starting to photograph my littlest clients siblings. And boy do I love it!

I first met sweet Titus while he was still a baby in his Momma’s belly during his big sisters cake smash session a little over a year ago.  He was just a few weeks away from making his appearance into this world for the first time. My goodness has he grown into an adorable toddler!

Titus’ Mom had the idea to go with a fishing theme for his cake smash. This was a totally new theme for me as a Cincinnati Cake Smash photographer and I was excited to come up with something really awesome!

I did what any good creative does and headed out to look for some inspiration. First I hit up Pinterest and found a few cute ideas but nothing that screamed, UNIQUE. So, my next stop was to the fishing isle of my local Meijer and then to Michaels.

I am not a fisher. I haven’t fished since I was a little girl with my grandparents on our annual camping trips so it took me a minute to remember what all went into that. Once I got going, I think I came up with some really cute touches to the set.

My kids helped paint two giant fishing bobbers we made out of paper lanterns. We added a giant fishing net to the floor with some small fishing bobbers from our local hardware store. I then strung fairy lights to mimic fireflies that you might see near the docks and added a old wood fishing dock prop.

Titus’ Mom made the perfect cake to match our vision for the session. Look for yourself, below.

Happy First Birthday, Noelle!

As a Cincinnati, Ohio Cake Smash Photographer, one of my favorite parts of my job is creating gorgeous sets for my cake smash clients! Today I had the great honor of capturing Noelle’s First Birthday Cake Smash Session. 

This sweet girl was nice enough to bring along her family so went ahead and had everyone jump in for a quick family picture to mark the moment <3

Noelle wasn’t shy about the cake at all. She immediately went for the ice cream cone and popped it off the top of the cake. She wasted not time, getting in on the fun!

Noelle’s favorite part of the session by far, was the bubble bath! She couldn’t get enough of the bubble machine. Noelle was an expert bubble catcher!

It seems like just yesterday that I had sweet baby Reed in the studio for her Newborn Photography Session.

Today I had the great honor of capturing her Cake Smash Session. And my how she’s grown!

Reed was a little apprehensive to smash her cake at first, as this is not something of the norm. She began by slowly picking at the cake and eating tiny bits of icing…. It was quite sweet.

But soon she settled right in. She took a few nibbles, then decided to dive right into her giant cake!

It’s hard to believe we are already celebrating the triplet’s first birthday with a cake smash session. I feel like it was just a few months ago when I was shooting  their newborn portraits! Watching these babies grow from newborns to toddlers is what makes being a Cincinnati Cake Smash photographer one of the best jobs ever!

We treated these amazing babes to the most amazing first birthday cake smash with a bright colorful set, and three beautiful delicious cake’s from Tres Belle Cakes in Cincinnati! These three wasted no time diving right into the cake! This, officially making this my most messy First Birthday Cake Smash  to date! SO CUTE!

Happy First Birthday Audrey!

Awe look at this adorable family!  Audrey’s Mom never disappoints with her outfit choices for sessions. I first started photographing this sweet family for Jaden’s cake smash. The Korean outfits the family brings to the sessions are always jaw dropping.

 

After we got through the first birthday portraits it was time to move on to the cake. Audrey was a little apprehensive during the cake smash part of her session. Each time we put her down with the cake, tears would fall.  As a Cincinnati Cake Smash photographer, I have learned some tricks to make these sessions work. No matter how apprehensive the baby, we will find a way to make your session amazing 🙂

We actually ended up doing shooting the session in reverse order so she could get warmed up to the idea of cake. I started with the bubble bath part of the session after several attempts to get her to smash the cake. She just wasn’t having the cake. At all.  But, once we got her in the tub to play she was feeling more comfortable and was ready to start smashing her cake. Audrey made us all smile with her adorable expressions. It was definitely worth the effort to get her interested in the cake!

Happy First Birthday, Riley!

I love being a Cincinnati Cake Smash Photographer. Why? Because, there is nothing is more fun than a First Birthday Cake Smash! Especially a cake smash with a super sweet, adorable little princess! We treated this little girl to the most amazing first birthday cake smash.

Riley’s Mom contacted me a few months about setting this session up and it came together perfectly. Mom wanted a Sparkly Princess theme that was suitable for her princess. So we went with a pink, teal and purple, princess set, and an beautiful delicious cake from Tres Belle Cakes in Cincinnati!  I found the perfect backdrops from Intuitions Backgrounds to go with the sparkly princess theme Mom had in mind.

Riley was one of the most delicate eaters I have had as a Cincinnati Cake Smash Photographer. She and made some of the cutest faces imaginable while eating (picking at) her cake and splashing in the tub.

It seems like just yesterday that I had sweet baby Anne Marie in the studio for her Newborn Photography Session.

Last weekend I had the great honor of capturing her Cake Smash Session. And my how she’s grown!

Anne Marie was a little apprehensive to smash her cake at first, which is pretty typical. She began by poking at the cake and crawling away. We were a little worried she wasn’t going to smash the cake at all! 

But soon she settled right in. She took a few nibbles, then decided to pick up and THROW the entire cake! As you can see in the highlight video below, her cake smash was nothing short of EPIC <3

And here at Heather Elizabeth Studios, we like to wrap up each Cake Smash Session with a warm bubble bath in our little claw foot tub. This part of the session is always a favorite and results in the most adorable images!
